Contemporary Cinema Studies is a peer-reviewed journal of academic cinema studies in Korea, which is dedicated to discussing the history, theory, and aesthetics of film and the moving image. Its first issue was published in May, 2005. Being registered in the list of the Korea Citation Index(KCI) in 2015, the journal has been recognized as one of the leading journals in cinema and media studies in Korea. Since 2017, the journal publishes four issues annually: February, May, August, November. The journal ultimately aims to frame a new academic paradigm for cinema studies with historical, aesthetic, and critical ground work in the 21st century, by promoting its multidisciplinary approaches to the Arts and Humanities both in Korean and beyond.
